Sure, we all spend top dollar for the convenience of pre-cut chicken…and for a little bit more, we can opt for the trimmed, boneless skinless chicken breasts. Did you know that a whole chicken is actually CHEAPER than buying it already cut? If you don’t know how to cut up a whole chicken, here’s some step by step instructions on how to do it courtesy of the LA Times Daily Dish.
Step 1:
You’ll need a sturdy pair of kitchen shears and a sharp knife. Rinse off the chicken and pat it dry and place it on a cutting board.
Step 2:
Cut out the backbone with your kitchen shears.
Step 3:
Use the knife to cut through the breast plate, and cut the chicken in half.
Step 4:
Remove the leg from the breast.
Step 5:
Separate drumstick and thigh.
Step 6:
Cut off the wing
